Jonny Lee Miller has been cast in the role of Sherlock Holmes for a Us Tv drama series. According to deadline.com, who broke the news, the CBS show, Elementary is a 'reboot ' of the British classic and sees the detective living in New York City. A pilot for the show is said to be under way with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly on board, with Michael Cuesta as director.
After rising to fame in the 1996 film adaptation of Trainspotting, Jonny Lee Miller went on to land the lead role of the Us Tv series Eli Stone, playing the title role, a San Franciscan lawyer. His co-stars included Natasha Henstridge and Loretta Devine. He then appeared in another popular US television series; Dexter, alongside Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C Hall. And 2012 will be a busy year for Jonny, as he will be hitting cinema screens once more in Dark Shadows, the Tim Burton-produced gothic horror, starring Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter and Chloe Grace Moretz, amongst others.
Jonny Lee Miller also recently starred in Danny Boyle's stage version of Frankenstein, co-starring with Benedict Cumberbatch, who played the role of Sherlock Holmes in the BAFTA-winning UK series, Sherlock. The UK show was also a modern update of the original stories, but was set in London.
