Love & Mercy - Teaser Trailer

In the mid-1960s, The Beach Boys were at the top of their game. Having released ten classic albums, a young songwriter and leader of the band, Brian Wilson (Paul Dano), was preparing to create the greatest album in history. His aggressive pursuit of the perfect sound for the band's eleventh studio album, 'Pet Sounds', had a negative effect on his psychological well-being. Almost two decades later in the 1980s, Wilson (John Cusack) is trapped in his own mind, sedated by medication and a troubled psychiatrist. But a young woman, Melinda Ledbetter (Elizabeth Banks), believes that she can restore him to the great man he once was, through a mixture of Love and Mercy.

Big Miracle Trailer

News reporter Adam Carlson is based in a remote part of Alaska, in a town called Point Barrow. As a consequence, there usually is little to talk about in the way of local news. After one news report, which saw him explaining how food can take up to four plane journeys to arrive in town, his boss rings to comment about how 'thin' his stories are. That is, until Adam sees something extraordinary out to sea. It transpires that there are three California gray whales stuck under the ice near Point Barrow. Adam captures the incident on his camera and rings his boss to tell him of his findings.

Adam's report on the whales makes it onto the news, where he tells stunned viewers that the ice the whales are trapped under extends five miles to the ocean. No one is more stunned than Rachel Kramer, a Greenpeace activist and Adam's ex-girlfriend. She rings him up to announce that she will help him rescue the whales. Soon enough, Adam not only has the support of his ex but of the entire town as well, all doing what they can to make a path to the ocean through the ice. Adam and Rachel soon find themselves united under a common goal and they slowly start to fall back in love again.

Starring: John Krasinski, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, Dermot Mulroney, Vinessa Shaw, Ted Danson, Stephen Root, Tim Blake Nelson, James LeGros, Rob Riggle, Andrew Daly, Bruce Altman, Gregory Jbara, Michael Gaston, Mark Ivanir and Jonathan Slavin

Hard Pill Review

Good
What if a gay guy could take a pill that would make him straight? Would he do it? What kinds of consequences would there be? While a setup like this is easy to imagine, it's more of a challenge to follow through with a screenplay that doesn't descend into camp. Hard Pill succeeds through subtlety, not only by exploring the huge psychological price paid by the guy who takes the pill, but also by noting the damage his decision inflicts on the friends he has spent years gathering around him.

Young L.A. average gay guy Tim (Jonathan Slavin) is unlucky in love and gets his only sexual kicks by providing quickies to his allegedly straight friend Don (Mike Begovich). His crush on the new arrival at the office, Matt (Jason Bushman), comes to a halt when he finds out Matt is straight, so he's left to chat with his overweight officemate and friend Sally (Susan Slome) and to be dragged reluctantly to the bars by his out and proud friend Joey (Scotch Ellis Loring), who has the annoying habit of abandoning him as soon as he makes a bathroom hookup for the night.
