With the self-aware action-comedy sequel 22 Jump Street, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are cementing themselves as A-list stars capable of leading just about any genre. And as a duo, they appear to be unstoppable.

This is Hill's third film in 2014, after lending his voice to two animated hits, The Lego Movie (by Jump Street filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller) and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Last year he received his second Oscar nomination for his role in Martin Scorsese's edgy biopic The Wolf of Wall Street and also appeared in the apocalyptic gross-out comedy This Is the End.

Tatum reteamed with Hill in both The Lego Movie and This Is the End, and in the past year also dabbled in action (White House Down and G.I. Joe Retaliation), thrills (Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects), comedy (Don Jon), serious drama (this year's Cannes hit Foxcatcher) and even an episode of The Simpsons.

And they're certainly not finished with their cinematic takeover. Coming up, Hill has completed filming on the drama True Story, a story of stolen identity involving the FBI's most-wanted killer, and another animated character in Sausage Party. Both films costar another pal, James Franco. After that, he'll star opposite Mark Walhberg in the action-comedy Good Time Gang.

For Tatum there's also another animated film in the pipeline with Guillermo Del Toro's The Book of Life, plus the Wachowski siblings' Jupiter Ascending, the stripper sequel Magic Mike XXL and his first foray into superhero territory as the X-men's Gambit. Can 23 Jump Street be too far behind?
