French rocker Johnny Hallyday is determined to help politician NICOLAS SARKOZY oust the current French President JACQUES CHIRAC in next year's (07) presidential elections, according to the would-be leader's party the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP). The coiffed rock 'n' roller - real name JEAN-PHILIPPE SMET - and his family have all signed up with the UMP party, and the centre-right political group are "very, very happy about it". He says his pal Sarkozy should "definitely be our president. I'm not just going to vote for him, I'm going to give him a hand as far as I can". Hallyday and Sarkozy recently united at French actor Jean Reno's wedding to model ZOFIA BORUCKA in July (06), performing witness duties at the town hall ceremony.
