The 37th PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles last night (5th January 2010), and a record 175 million votes were cast to determine the winners of its annual honours, reports Time Magazine. The star studded event saw big wins for actors Johnny Depp and Adam Sandler, but it was vampire franchise 'Twilight' that snatched the headlines.

Receiving the awards on behalf of the film's cast, 18-year-old actor Taylor Lautner told the packed audience, "I can't believe this. You guys are unreal! For movie number three already?" Elsewhere, Depp scooped the 'Best Actor' award for his role as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland', and 'Toy Story 3' won 'Favourite Family Movie'. Heartthrob Zac Efron took home the award for 'Favourite Movie Star Under 25'.
