Johnny Depp thinks romance will never be on the cards for his 'Pirates of the Caribbean' character Captain Jack Sparrow because it would ruin the ''legend'' of the part.
The 47-year-old actor - who has portrayed the camp swashbuckling hero in four instalments of 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' - doesn't think the character could ever fall in love because it would destroy his "legend".
He said: "I think if we did a scenario where it was Captain Jack really falling in love, it would most likely be A Silent Film.
"I think he would go completely catatonic and be unable to speak. He would probably sit there and quiver for an hour and a half. It would mess up the legend. Which I think is always working for it, to leave the legend behind."
However, he does confess working with Penelope Cruz on the movie as a leading female pirate was a treat as she was so "fiery".
Johnny added to MTV News: "She's one of the greatest gifts you could get. She's so fiery and has such spirit and such talent. Also, besides that, she's a great friend. She's so funny and so capable of anything."
