Johnny Depp is already gaining plaudits for his role as melancholy vampire Barnabas Collins in director Tim Burton's movie adaptation of 'Dark Shadows', and the movie has only just begun shooting. Set photos of the actor and co-star Michelle Pfeiffer in full gothic garb have found their way onto the internet, wowing fans of both Hollywood stars.
Empire Magazine have posted a series of images on their website, one of which features Johnny with a pale white face, straight black hair and long, blood stained fingers. Wearing a black cape, the actor appears to be in-character as director Burton instructs from close by. Another image sees Pfeiffer as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the matriarch of the Collins family and a woman who has supposedly not left her home for 18 years. The movie is based on the cult 1960's television series, which ran for 1,225 episodes, and which Depp, Burton, Quentin Tarantino and Madonna have publically revealed they were fans of. The forthcoming film, adapted for the screen by best-selling author Seth Grahame-Smith, also features Helena Bonham Carter, young actress Chloe Moretz, Johnny Lee Miller and Bella Heathcoate - it is slated for release on 11th May 2012.
The project represents the latest in a string of collaborations between Depp and director Burton. However, the actor will next team up with filmmaker Gore Verbinski for a remake of action-adventure The Lone Ranger.
