Hollywood Vampires, the star-studded supergroup boasting Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper, have announced they’ll be performing a small number of live shows in support of their upcoming first album.

A self-titled debut album consisting of cover versions of songs by Depp’s and Cooper’s musical heroes is set to be released on September 11th. It includes guest spots by a dazzling array of musical legends, including Sir Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, Slash, AC/DC singer Brian Johnson and the late actor Sir Christopher Lee among others.

Proceeds from the album and shows will be going to MusiCares, an organisation that provides personal and financial assistance to promising up-and-coming musicians. Tickets for the gigs go on sale on Friday August 14th.

Speaking to the NME about the inspiration behind Hollywood Vampires earlier in 2015, Alice Cooper said: “We decided to put the band together and kind of celebrate all of our dead, drunk friends. You know, all of our big brothers died at 27 years old. Jim Morrison, we toured with The Doors, and Jimi Hendrix was one of our best friends, and we drank with these guys, and Johnny Depp and I were doing that movie Dark Shadows, and we decided that one night we were gonna go to the 100 Club and just be a bar band. No glitz, no glam.”

Hollywood Vampires, a reference to an exclusive celebrity drinking ‘club’ that frequented The Sunset Strip in the early ‘70s that included Cooper himself as well as John Lennon, Ringo Starr and Keith Moon, will feature cover versions of Lennon, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and The Small Faces among others.
