Johnny Depp was "touched" to receive two nominations for next year's (11) Golden Globes - because he "certainly didn't expect" the honours.
The Hollywood hunk is tipped twice in the Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) category, for his lead roles in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland and new film The Tourist.
Depp admits he was surprised when the nominations were announced on Tuesday (14Dec10), revealing, "I certainly didn't expect two nominations in the same category, but if that's what they saw, I guess that's what they saw. I'm very touched."
He adds, "It's always very sweet and very nice to be acknowledged for your work."
Depp's The Tourist co-star Angelina Jolie is also nominated for her role in the movie, receiving a nod in the Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) category.
Jolie was stunned by the news because she's never been acknowledged in a comedy category before.
She says, "You work hard at something and you do a film that you love and you never know how it will be responded to, and it's been nice that audiences have enjoyed it and seen it, but to be acknowledged in that way is obviously an honour and very, very nice. And we were laughing, because it's the first time I've been in the comedic category, so it's new for me."
The 68th annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by British comic Ricky Gervais, will take place on 16 January (11) in Los Angeles.
