Johnny Depp credits his decision to set up home in France with allowing him to lead a normal life when he isn't making movies.
The CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY star, who lives with longterm lover Vanessa Paradis and their children, spends much of his time in Los Angeles and on location - but he always looks forward to returning to his simple life in a French village.
He says, "France has given me the opportunity to live a basic and simple life with my kiddies, a life or normalcy.
"The nearest village has 1,500 people. I can take a ride into the village and go to the little local bar and have a coffee with my girl, and people say, 'Hello Johnny, how are you?'
"I'm not looking round the periphery for the paparazzi.
"You drive back home and walk in the vegetable garden with your kids and have a nice lunch - you know, real life, real life, not any of the hoopla that surrounds the industry here."
