Christopher Kane was thrilled when Carey Mulligan stepped out in one of his creations.

The Scottish designer is a huge fan of the 24-year-old British actress - who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in 'An Education' - and couldn't contain his excitement when she chose a black below-the-knee A-line dress, complete with exquisite embroidery, from his Autumn/Winter 2010/11 collection to attend the Independent Spirit Awards in earlier this month.

He said: "I loved Carey's performance in 'An Education', so I am so proud she chose one of my new autumn/winter looks to wear. It's very flattering - she looked stunning."

Carey completed her look with her newly blonde crop and bright red lipstick.

While Christopher, who runs his label with sister Tammy, was excited when Carey donned one of his dresses, he recently revealed he would love to work with celebrity couple Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis.

He said: "I love Vanessa Paradis - she's so delicate and she doesn't seem to have aged. Maybe she and Johnny Depp inject themselves with each other's DNA - I would feel totally inferior being in the same room, because she's so beautiful."
