Depp had signed up to star in ‘The Libertine’ before news of his divorce from Amber Heard broke.
Johnny Depp is said to be still attached to Brett Ratner’s upcoming sex scandal movie, with the production currently in “active development”. The film is loosely based on the case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, a French politician who was accused of sexual assault by a hotel maid in 2011.

The film was first announced by Ratner at the Cannes Film Festival on May 11, less than two weeks before Depp’s wife Amber Heard filled for divorce and the actor was accused of physical abuse.

The actor isn't letting his break-up get to him too much.
Johnny Depp is doing everything he can to take his mind of his messy divorce situation with Amber Heard, and if that means hanging out with pretty Scandinavian girls after a rock show, then so be it. The actor took some time out to unwind with a few fans in Europe.

Alice Through the Looking Glass is the followup to the 2010 film Alice in Wonderland
With the media busy conjecturing about the end of Johnny Depp's brief marriage to Amber Heard, the actor would clearly rather be talking about his latest movie, the sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass. "Doing this film was a real treat," he says. "I'm not a big movie watcher of myself. You always think there's something more you could do, or something different. So coming back, I had the opportunity to do that and give a more interesting performance. It was lovely to explore this story of Alice and Hatter."
In this film, Depp's Hatter is at a very low point, wasting away in his grief and regret. "Hatter has gone noticeably further down the road of insanity," Depp says. "If you are crazy or have some sort of mental dilemma, but you're not aware of it, it's great. If you're aware that you're crazy, it'll eat you alive! So this time, there are so many things Hatter has to question. It's taking the Mad Hatter and making him even more mad, more confused, more lost, more paranoid."

What will he do next?
While he may always keep a good mop of hair, a pair of nearly-round glasses, his signature facial hair and a load of jewellery handy, it's safe to say that Johnny Depp changes his look more often than most people change their bedsheets. And 2016 has been no different.

In fact, he's debuted a huge range of different looks on the red carpet since the New Year - indeed, he's been a very busy man what with filming 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales', as well as working alongside Alice Cooper and Aerosmith's Joe Perry in the supergroup Hollywood Vampires, so that's a lot of looks to think about already.

Sometimes Time is everyone's worst enemy.
Alice is back in Wonderland and this time things aren't as wonderful as they once were. Tim Burton has ceded the role of director to James Bobin for the intense sequel 'Alice Through the Looking Glass', that once again differs largely from the Lewis Carroll original.
Alice must return to Wonderland to rescue the Hatter
The defeat of the Jabberwocky should've brought peace to the world, but a new evil has arisen that this young woman may not be able to fight. Now getting on with her life, though still thought of as an oddity amongst her peers, Alice is revisited by Absolem in his butterfly form. He urges her to return to Wonderland to rescue the Mad Hatter and his friends from certain death in the face of a new foe.
Alice once again returns to Wonderland and meets a lot of familiar faces. This time her biggest enemy is Time, quite literally. As the Blue Caterpillar reminds her, 'You've been gone too long, Alice there are matters that might benefit from your attention. Friends cannot be neglected.' Instead of falling down a rabbit hole, this time Alice gains entry to wonderland through a large mirror which takes her to a topsy-turvy universe which could only be associated with Wonderland. There appear to be a few differences between the book and the new film; whilst Lewis Carol's original version of the book was based six months after the original tale, the inclusion of Time might mean that Linda Woolverton's version make time travel much quicker in Wonderland. Again, Carol used many chess analogies in the book, at the moment its unknown how much this will play a part in the movie. The majority of the lead cast from Tim Burton's 2010 version of Alice in Wonderland including Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. Alice Through The Looking Glass was directed by James Bobbin who previously worked on the 2011 Muppets film and Muppets Most Wanted.
Johnny Depp has been nominated three times at the Oscars without winning - but this apparently doesn't bother him.
Winning an Oscar would normally be the highlight of any professional actor’s career, but not for Johnny Depp! The Black Mass actor, who has won plaudits for his portrayal of the Boston-based mobster ‘Whitey’ Bulger, has said that he never wants to win at the Oscars.
Depp has been nominated three times for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Academy Awards – in 2003 for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in 2004 for Finding Neverland, and in 2007 for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – but has never won. In conversation with BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat, he said: “I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know.”

Edward Scissorhands is no ordinary boy, as his name may tell. Created by a genius inventor who passed away before his subject was completed, he seems doomed to a life of solitude in a dilapidated castle. That is until the local Avon lady named Peg Boggs calls round and willingly takes the poor boy under her wing. Integrating him into civilised society isn't easy, however. While many neighbours are deeply accepting and impressed by his ability to cut hair and trim hedges, others see him as a danger with his bladed fingers that could easily cause some damage. Peg's daughter Kim is a little uneasy, despite how immediately taken Edward is of her, and her friends recognise this weakness and aim to exploit it to their advantage. Predictably, Edward's mistakes get him into a lot of trouble and he soon finds that the novelty of his presence is wearing thin.

The post-apocalyptic sequel performed less healthily than the original did last year, but $30.3 million was still more than enough to send it to the top of the box offices.
The weekend’s US box office race was won by The Maze Runner sequel, which easily fended off a challenge by the newly released Johnny Depp movie Black Mass to open at the top with an opening haul of $30.3 million.
The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is the follow-up to the 2014 original, although it did not take as much in its opening weekend as its predecessor. Dylan O'Brien stars again in the lead, and it's the second in the series of young adult dystopian novel adaptations, the first instalment enjoyed a first weekend of $32.5 million roughly this time last year.
Whitey Bulger’s lawyers and the families of Bulger’s victims have plenty to say about Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Bulger in ‘Black Mass’.
Whitey Bulger’s lawyer, Hank Brennan, has criticised the portrayal of his client in the recently released film, Black Mass. The film, which stars Johnny Depp as Bulger, follows the gangster’s murderous rise to become one of the most notorious in the U.S. Depp has been highly praised for his portrayal of Bulger by critics but Bulger’s lawyers and families of Bulger’s victims have a lot to say about Depp’s performance and his comments about the role.
Bulger, aged 82, remains incarcerated on two life sentences stemming from a number of charges including murder. Speaking to People, Bulger’s lawyer claims Depp’s portrayal of his client is about as accurate as if he depicted him as “the Mad Hatter”.
He loves the whole transformation process of acting.
On the festival circuit this autumn, Johnny Depp has been earning some of the best reviews of his career playing mobster James "Whitey" Bulger in the true drama Black Mass. But his efforts to get under Bulger's skin rankled some of the victims, who don't like to think that Bulger had a more complicated side to him.
Johnny Depp says the transformation into Whitey Bulger was the most important part
"There's a kind heart in there, and there's a cold heart in there," Depp told a reporter. "There's a lot to the man."

Depp plays the South Boston gangster in 'Black Mass', released on Friday, and made the controversial comments at the film's premiere in the city.
Johnny Depp’s red carpet comments about the gangster James “Whitey” Bulger, whom he portrays in the newly-released movie Black Mass, have upset relatives of some of Bulger’s victims.
At the film’s premiere on Tuesday (September 15th) in Brookline, Boston – the city in which Bulger’s crimes took place – Depp said that there was humanity in everyone, even the notorious, now 86 year old gangster who is serving life imprisonment in Florida.
“There’s a kind heart in there,” 52 year old Depp said in a very short interview that was aired on WCVB. “There’s a cold heart in there. There’s a man who loves. There’s a man who cries. There’s a lot to the man.”

Amber Heard missed a hearing in Australia on Monday (7th September). This was a reference to the Australian minister who ordered his two dogs, Pistol and Boo, to be deported or risk being put down.
Johnny Depp responded to the fiasco surrounding his dogs and the Australian Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce with some rather dark humour. The actor was asked a question about the incident earlier this year, and replied that he had “killed” his pets and “ate them”.
Depp was speaking at a press conference for his new movie Black Mass, which is being shown at the Venice Film Festival, on Friday (September 4th). He sarcastically said: “I killed my dogs and ate them under direct orders from some kind of, I don't know, sweaty, big-gutted man from Australia” when he was asked if he was going to take his pets on a gondola ride in the city.

Get ready for the likes of 'Everest', 'The Danish Girl' and 'Black Mass'.
With the Venice Film Festival kicking off this week, awards season is officially underway. Venice has been the launchpad for a number of films that have gone on to Oscar glory. Last year, the opening night film was Birdman, and the year before it was Gravity. So there are big hopes for this year's opener, the true-life thriller Everest, directed by Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormakur with an ensemble cast including Jake Gyllenhaal, Robin Wright, Emily Watson and Jason Clarke.
Jake Gyllenhaal stars in true story disaster thriller 'Everest'
And anticipation is running even higher for a number of other movies. Venice is hosting the premiere of The Danish Girl, the true story of one of the world's first-known transgender women, played by Eddie Redmayne. Can he win back-to-back Oscars? This week's new poster and trailer are very promising.

Having played no part at all in 2011's On Stranger Tides, Bloom will be returning to the cast for Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017.
Great news for fans of Pirates Of The Caribbean as Disney has confirmed that Orlando Bloom will be returning to the cast for the fifth instalment. The announcement was revealed at Disney’s D23 expo on Saturday (August 15th) after the star himself had previously expressed uncertainty as to whether he would get the nod.
Bloom, of course, was missing from the fourth movie On Stranger Tides back in 2011, having played Will Turner, one of the franchise’s central characters, in the first three movies dating back to 2003. But it seems now that his role will be revived in some way for the 2017 release Dead Men Tell No Tales alongside Johnny Depp’s eternal favourite Captain Jack Sparrow.

What do Johnny Deep and Alice Cooper have in common? The desire to create a very exciting new supergroup it would seem. Eclectic actor Depp has joined forces with rock stars Alice Copper, Joe Perry, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum to form The Hollywood Vampires - a collaboration announced at the beginning of this year that will debut with two live Los Angeles gigs in September and perform Rock in Rio in Brazil later in the same month.
Johnny Depp plans to wow audiences with his rock music skills in Hollywood Vampires
The addition of Johnny Depp as a musical accompaniment may sound strange to those who remember the Pirates of the Caribbean actor eschewing the idea of thespians crossing over to the world of music.
The supergroup, which also includes members of Aerosmith and ex-Guns 'N' Roses players, has announced a trio of live dates in support of an album of rock 'n' roll covers.
The band, which also features Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and ex-Guns ‘N’ Roses members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, announced on Wednesday (August 12th) that they’ll play two live gigs in Los Angeles at The Roxy on September 16th and 17th, followed by a sole festival date at Rock In Rio in Brazil on September 24th.

Whitey Bulger has had the FBI under his thumb for too long, and now people are starting to notice. How can a criminal mastermind responsible for every major offence in the city pass by seemingly unnoticed for an entire lifetime? It's true he landed in Alcatrez at a young age, but the older the more dangerous he becomes; a kingpin of the South Boston criminal underworld who escaped justice by informing authorities of all movements of the rival gang, the Italian Mafia, as suggested by his most useful contact and friend John Connolly. But the Irish Winter Hill Gang is growing ever more powerful, and Bulger's feelings of invincibility lead to more and more murders and destruction. It's time he was stopped, but finding him is not going to be easy.

Irish-American criminal mastermind Whitey Bulger was arguably one of the most dangerous men in America before his arrest in 2011 at the age of 81. He'd already spent time in Alcatrez as a much younger man, having spent a lot of time on the streets of South Boston. However, by the 70s he proved to be the FBI's best tool in controlling organised crime within the country, and he was eventually persuaded by his friend John Connolly to be their informant in all workings of the rival Italian Mafia. However, it's not safe business being both a highly respected gangster and a police informant, and while much of his activity is being largely ignored as he rises to become top of the Irish Winter Hill Gang, it seems he is gaining too many killings and dodgy dealings under his belt to go unnoticed.

Bringing Boo and Pistol to Australia could end up being a costly mistake for Depp.
Johnny Depp could be facing a lengthly prison sentence in Australia, after illegally bringing his two dogs into the country last month. The actor broke Australia’s strict quarantine laws when he flew in the Yorkshire terriers on his private jet in April and failed to declare them to officials.

On Monday an Australian Senate committee was told that if the matter goes to court and Depp is found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison or a maximum fine of $265,000. But it’s not just Depp who’s in hot water, the jet’s pilot is also facing up to two years behind bars, for his involvement in the situation.

For anyone overtaken by Johnny Depp's recent filmography, the trailer for 'Black Mass' can serve as a great reminder that he is a phenomenal actor.
With the recent trailer release for 'Black Mass', it's clear to see why the world fell in love with Johnny Depp. A short clip within the trailer perfectly demonstrates the veteran actor's ability to switch at will between fun-loving and friendly, to nightmarishly monstrous, in a great acting showcase. And that creepy make-up job certainly helps.
Johnny Depp shows off his more villainous side in 'Black Mass'
In recent years, Johnny Depp has received a critical savaging, specifically for films like 'The Lone Ranger' and 'Transcendence', but this triumphant return to form may be just what he needs before launching into an 'Alice in Wonderland' sequel, and a fifth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film.
Sometimes, the greatest hiding place is in plain sight. For twelve years from the mid-1990s, he was the FBI's second most wanted fugitive, behind Osama Bin Laden. Throughout the 1970s, he was an FBI informant, revealing information to bring down an Italian American crime family, and he was the brother of a US senator. But really, his informant years were to stop another family from invading his own turf. Whitey Bulger (Johnny Depp) was one of the most brutal and violent criminals in Boston, being the secret puppet master behind one of the most dangerous crime families in history.

Kim Kardashian makes a dramatic style move - but who else has recently gone blonde?
Kim Kardashian's debuts her latest fashion move, sporting a head of significantly shorter but freshly dyed blonde locks as she spends quality time with her husband Kanye West in France during Paris Fashion Week. It's a style that's been dividing opinion this week.
Kim Kardashian sports a new style
Kim may have shocked us in skin-tight pink Latex back in February, but the reality star hasn't stopped there. Her latest daring venture has been to bleach her much envied brunette hair - as well as chop half of it off. It'll definitely take some getting used to but we think the curvy star has proved she can just about pull off anything; perhaps she was inspired by her famous mermaid Halloween costume (which people are still talking about) from 2012, where her blonde curls drew many eyes on her.
The actor will be joined by Cooper and Joe Perry for the band's upcoming show.
Johnny Depp re-visits his musical roots in Alice Cooper's formation of supergroup The Hollywood Vampires, named after his legendary drinking club of the same name. Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry will also join the line-up. It's no secret that the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star and Hollywood heartthrob has a foot in the music industry, it being a big part of his childhood and teenage years. But now he's solidifying that part of his personality by joining a new band: The Hollywood Vampires, alongside Alice Cooper and Joe Perry.

The Hollywood Vampires first came about in the 1970s and, while members happened to be some of the biggest rockstars in the world at the time, it was formed as drinking club rather than a band, where members were enlisted on whether or not they could drink the other members under the table. Among them were former Beatles John Lennon and Ringo Starr, as well as Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson and Bernie Taupin.
