Matthew McConaughey will not be starring in the 'Magic Mike' sequel, 'Mike Mike XXL'. Fortunately, the rest of the cast are returning and some other well known faces will also be appearing in the 2015 film, including Amber Heard.
Matthew McConaughey will not be reprising his role as strip club owner Dallas in the upcoming sequel to Magic Mike, Magic Mike XXL. The 2015 film may have lost one of its biggest stars but it's certainly making up for it by casting actresses such as Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Johnny Depp and Kevin Smith are teaming up with their daughters for the second movie in Smith's "True North Trilogy". But what do we know about it so far?
After a run of poorly received films that have dented Johnny Depp’s reputation as a box-office magnet, the Hollywood superstar must be keen to move onto pastures anew. For his newest venture, Depp has teamed up with cult filmmaker Kevin Smith in a high-concept action movie based around the exploits of a pair of teen yoga fanatics and their fight against evil spirits. Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose and Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn will take the lead roles whilst Depp will co-star in the curiously entitled project, Yoga Hosers.
In recent years, Depp's box-office status has tailed off after some poor performances.
Set in rural Canada, Smith has written the film and will direct it when it begins production. The story will follow the two girls as they battle a mysterious and ancient evil that threatens a planned party by rising from the underground, penetrating through a spiritual netherworld to usurp the two girl’s weekend plans to attend the coolest party in town. It will mark the second venture by Smith in a trilogy of films, nicknamed the “True North Trilogy” set in the vast and spacious Canadian countryside. The first, Tusk, is currently scheduled to do the rounds in the Autumnal film festival circuit and features largely the same cast as Yoga Hosers. Harley Quinn and Lily Rose also appear in Tusk in roles that are synonymous with Smith’s directorial oeuvre: convenience store clerks. For Yoga Hosers, however, the girl will take on much more pro-active roles.
Lily-Rose Depp has landed her first lead role in the Kevin Smith-directed horror comedy 'Yoga Hosers,' co-starring with her famous father.
Just like her famous father, Lily-Rose Depp is embarking on a career in the movie industry. The 15 year-old girl is set to co-star with daddy Johnny Depp in the upcoming film 'Yoga Hosers, which will be directed by Kevin Smith.
Johnny is set to co-star with his daughter Lily-Rose
This will mark Lily-Rose's very first lead acting job in a Hollywood flick, and it is expected to be a family affair as Smith has also cast his daughter Harley Quinn Smith, 15, in the other lead role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

After making a brief appearance in this year's 'Tusk', Lily Rose Melody Depp and Harley Quinn Smith will be getting a film all to themselves next year.
Kevin Smith is in the process of directing the second film in his new trilogy set in rural Canada. The film is a loose sequel to 'Tusk' (making its first appearance at the Toronto Film Festival this year) and contains some of the same characters. Among these are two young girls, working in a convenience store, played by Lily Rose Melody Depp and Harley Quinn Smith.
Smith is finally making the super hero film everyone has been waiting for
The girls are the fifteen-year-old girls of actor Johnny Depp and director Kevin Smith and are due to star in the film 'Yoga Hosers' next year. Between the two films, Johnny Depp will be playing the legendary man-hunter Guy Lapointe, who aids the two yoga enthusiasts in their quest to fight an ancient evil that threatens the plans of their upcoming party.

The on-set photos give a fascinating insight into the sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 film. Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter are this time joined by Sacha Baron Cohen, in a film that is said to revisit Lewis Carroll’s stories with an “all-new new tale that travels back to Underland —and back in Time.”
Depp stars once again as The Mad Hatter in yet another chance for him to reinvigorate his career, which has plummeted since the critics panned movies like The Tourist, Lone Ranger and Transcendence. However, for Wasikowska, working with Depp was exactly what she thought it would be: like working with a legendary actor

The new trailer for next year's Mortdecai appears promising, although it seems far more focused on character than plot. The plot, such as it is, takes inspiration from the Mortdecai series of books by author Kyril Bonfiglioli.
Johnny Depp as Charlie Mortdecai
More specifically, the film is set to take cues from the novel 'Don't Point That Thing at Me', and follows a rich English art dealer as he traverses the globe in search of a paining containing the code to a bank fully of secret Nazi gold. Although the trailer keeps most of the storyline under wraps.
Charlie Mortdecai may be rude, arrogant and distinctly unlikeable, but he's also a terribly rich English art dealer with a drop dead gorgeous wife, charming looks and a trusty man servant. He has been enlisted to uncover a painting, lost for decades and containing a top secret code that leads to a hidden bank account inside which is mounds of Nazi currency. It is with much apprehension on the part of Inspector Martland that Mortdecai become involved, with him being notoriously overt and extremely moronic. But he is happy to help with the recovery, travelling to various corners of the world and dazzling those he meets along the way. However, he has a lot to face on his journey - from MI5 to terrorists and his wife's repeated questions.

Meryl Streep, James Corden and Chris Pine also star in the upcoming musical.
Have you ever wondered what happened to Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood after they got their ‘happy ending’? Well Disney’s latest musical, Into the Woods might make you wish you’d never asked. In the movie, starring Anna Kendrick and Johnny Deep we sadly learn that some of our favourite fairytale characters actually didn't end up living so ‘happily ever after’ once their stories ended.
Anna Kendrick stars as Cinderella
Fairytales have certainly been enjoying a bit of a renaissance as of late with movies such as Snow White and the Huntsman and Maleficent presenting the alternative side to some classic stories. But Disney’s Into the Woods it’s not just another fairytale retelling, instead it explores what happens after the fairytale ended, calling into question everything we ever believed about ‘happily ever after.’
Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) has a job that most could only dream of. He spends his working days travelling around and discovering interesting people whom he then interviews for his radio podcasts. It's a voyage of education and cultural vibrancy - though it rarely occurs to this adventurous wanderer that it could be a little dangerous. He decides to travel to an isolated area of Manitoba in Canada to meet a man with many stories of his own adventures at sea, including being rescued from a sinking boat by a walrus. However, Wallace finds himself drugged at the man's house within hours and spends the next few terrifying days being tortured into behaving like a walrus while this mysterious Mr. Howe (Michael Parks) prepares to perform a gruesome and disfiguring operation involving a carefully prepared pair of ivory tusks. Meanwhile, Wallace's girlfriend and colleagues are getting seriously worried about where on Earth he's got to.

With a string of flop movies, fans are beginning to question whether Johnny Depp has lost the certain something that made him so...Johnny Depp.
Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. What’s been going on? Don’t get us wrong, we’re big fans and always will be, but something’s gone a little awry of late. Well, for quite a while actually. Depp’s latest film Transcendence is inarguably a total box office flop. Taking just $11.5 million in its opening week was hugely disappointing, but from the sound of things it never even stood a chance. The critics have been pretty scathing, particularly of Depp. Antonia Quirke of the Financial Times remarked, “The only part of [Depp] still genuinely dynamic is his hair. I’m worried.” Yikes.
Depp fans feel that he has 'lost it' - whatever 'it' was
If it was just one flop it would have been easier to ignore, but sadly Depp has suffered from several over the past few years. His 2013 Disney film The Lone Ranger absolutely bombed at the box office, while Dark Shadows, The Rum Diary, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Tourist have all failed to win over critics and audiences. In fact, since 2010 Depp’s only real success was computer animated comedy Rango. Although, Rango is pretty fantastic, so that’s got to count for something.

Johnny Depp is no longer required to testify at the murder trial of Nancy Lekon, who is accused of running over a woman with her limo.
Johnny Depp will no longer have to testify in the murder case of Nancy Lekon. Lekon, a limo driver, ran over a woman with her vehicle after claiming that she was in a relationship with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. It has now been officially established that the actor was not in a relationship with the accused at the time of the murder (or, for that matter, at any other time) and therefore will not have to appear in court.
Depp is no longer required to testify at the murder case of Nancy Lekon
Depp was served a subpoena at the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film Transcendence, which called him to testify at the trial. It was initially believed that his testimony would be used to support Lekon’s plea of insanity. Now that it is clear to both prosecution and defence that Depp has no connection to the defendent and has nothing to do with the trial, he will no longer have to testify.
Christopher Nolan had a hand in 'Transcendence' you know...
Even though he's only listed as an executive producer, filmmaker Christopher Nolan's fingerprints are all over the new sci-fi thriller Transcendence, the directing debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister, who has shot all of Nolan's films since 2000's break-out hit Memento.

And then there's the cast members who have worked with Nolan-Pfister before, including Rebecca Hall (The Prestige), Morgan Freeman (the Dark Knight trilogy) and Cillian Murphy (Inception and the Dark Knight trilogy).

Far too slow-paced to work as a thriller and too shallow to properly challenge us as science fiction, this film is unlikely to please many audience members. That isn't to say that it's unwatchable: it looks terrific, and features a strong cast who are solid in thinly written roles. But the material promises far more than the film delivers.
At the centre is Will (Johnny Depp), an artificial intelligence expert who is attacked by an anti-technology terrorist group. With only weeks to live, his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and his colleague Max (Paul Bettany) upload his consciousness into his computer system, so after he dies he is able to transcend his humanity to solve far-advanced problems. He directs Evelyn to create a vast secret hideout to further develop the work, which progresses for two years until the terrorists, led by Bree (Kate Mara), find them. And now Will's old colleague Joseph (Morgan Freeman) and an FBI agent (Cillian Murphy) have to choose which side they're on.
This is precisely where the script fails: the sides are far too clear from the start. What should be a story packed with moral ambiguity is instead shaped into a straightforward good versus evil drama that betrays screenwriter Jack Paglen's mistrust of technology. And since everything is slanted so sharply, there's nowhere for the story or characters to go. First-time director Wally Pfister (the Oscar-winning Dark Knight cinematographer) makes sure everything look terrific, but everything moves so hesitantly that we feel like we're watching the movie in slow motion. It's as if the film is always on the verge of saying something important, but can never quite get the words out.

Can anyone knock Captain America off the US box office top spot?
It seems there really is no defeating Captain America, as The Winter Solider has topped the US box office again for the third straight week, what's more the movie has now passed the $200million box office mark. Not fairing so well over the Easter holiday however was Johnny Depp, who is suffering another box office flop as Transcendence only managed to enter in 4th place.
Chris Evans reigns supreme as Captain America
This week, Captain America: The Winter Solider took on the star power of Johnny Depp whose new movie Transcendence opened to negative reviews. According to studio estimates, The Winter Solider took around $26 million at the box office, whilst Depp’s offering only managed $11 million, coming in on fourth place. Sadly for Depp, Transcendence marks his third box office flop in a row after The Lone Ranger and Dark Shadows.

This week's newcomer, "Transcendence", seems to be underperforming.
The weekend box office continues to offer no surprised this week, with the Johnny Depp starrer Transcendence looking like a flop and likely to take fourth place behind previous chart toppers. The real fight is once again between Marvel’s latest blockbuster, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the animated hit Rio 2. The jungle adventure (that’s Rio, in case you’re one of the few out there, who haven’t seen either) is looking likely to take the top spot this week, by the minimal margin of $2 million over Cap.
Despite Johnny Depp's star power, Transcendence is barely making a ripple at the box office.
Rio 2 is predicted to make roughly $27 million over the three day period, while Captain America is predicted similar earnings to last weekend - $25 million, according to Variety. Winter Soldier has grossed almost $510 million worldwide ($175 million domestically), while Rio 2 has tallied $177.2 million ($53 million domestically) through Thursday.

Transcendence isn't looking like a hit for Johnny Depp, but how would he have fared in these movies?
Johnny Depp’s latest movie 'Transcendence' has just been released and, well, critics aren’t exactly bowled over by his latest offering. Come to think of it, they weren't too keen on his previous endeavour, 'The Lone Ranger', either. Whilst it might be too early to say that Depp has lost his midas touch on the box office, we’ve got to wonder if he sometimes regrets the choices he’s made in his career. Take for example these 10 movies, whose posters could have read: 'starring Johnny Depp'.

Not the critical response Depp would have wanted...
‘Transcendence’ is a stern Springtime test for Johnny Depp; the 50-year-old actor mooted an end to his film career following the very public failure that was ‘The Lone Ranger’, and a crowded box office, including the hotly anticipated ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ will see his star power put to the sword like never before, especially without the Disney machine behind him.
Cheer up Johnny
In that context, the reviews for his new sci-fi thriller, ‘Transcendence’ – from director Wally Pfister (Christopher Nolan’s long-time d.p.) – make for painful reading. The entire extent of the damage can’t be confirmed yet, but two things are for sure: this won’t ease the ‘Lone Ranger’ pain, and Johnny Depp’s reputation still hangs in the balance.
The 50 year-old actor, and his fellow 'Transcendence' co-stars, were pulled over by police when enjoying a spin in a in a luxury electric sports car.
Johnny Depp has openly admitted to having several run-ins with the law in his past.
The most recent revelation came when he was talking about the preparation he made before playing a scientist in new sci-fi film 'Transcendence.'
The 50 year-old actor met with some of the brightest minds in the US, but on one particular day the film's director, Wally Pfister, introduced him to Elon Musk, the head of the Tesla electric car company, while on set.

The 50 year-old actor will give his 27 year-old fiancé the opportunity to have children if she wants, but in the meantime "practising for it is fun and it's all wonderful."
Johnny Depp is definitely head over heels with his fiancé Amber Heard and as they plan to wed, more children may also be a possibility in their future.
The 50 year-old Hollywood hunk proposed to fellow actress Amber Heard at Christmas time and admits that despite his age, he will never stop his future wife from becoming a mother.
Although it has been heavily speculated that Heard is already pregnant, Depp squashed these rumors earlier this month, but he did open up about having more children while speaking at the Beverly Hills Four Seasons Hotel, via The Mirror.
Johnny Depp experienced some firsthand culture shock on his recent trip to China.
Sometimes fan adoration can get a little too instense even for the person being adored. Case in point – Johnny Depp’s recent visit to China. The actor traveled to China recently to promote his new movie Transcendence and, according to Hollywood.com, he really enjoyed his visit, for the most part. One activity that left a particular impression on Depp was his trip to an abandoned bomb factory, which has been turned into an artist colony. The actor was left slightly disturbed, however, when he med a group of young boys, with the Transcendence title shaved onto their heads.
In Transcendence, Depp plays a brilliant scientist, who blurs the line between man and machine.
"On the whole, I found a real warmth in the people there. They were very sweet and welcoming. It was quite a turn-out that we had and a lot of strange things went down that I'd rather not talk about ever again in my life. "There were these four little quadruplet Chinese boys dressed in kind of priest outfits, and Transcendence comes out to (is written with) four Chinese characters (sic). Well, they'd shaved those characters onto those little boys' heads to bring them out on stage with me. "I'm pretty shy, so I tend to run when that kind of thing happens. Little boys with their heads shaved into the name of the film; that scares me a little."

We take a closer look at sci-fi thriller, Transcendence
Like vampires, zombies have enjoyed a renaissance over the past decade or so. The Walking Dead established dominance over the genre on TV after the preceding graphic novel did the same for comic books, while movies like Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later and World War Z all helped mould the genre with different takes on the ‘infected’ and ways to approach them in cinema. Video games, too, have embraced zombies; Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising and DayZ proved popular – The Last of Us took things to the next level.
What is he up to...
In Transcendence, Johnny Depp plays a forward thinking scientist on the verge of uploading the human consciousness onto a server, creating a sort of computer intelligence never seen before – it has the potential to be more powerful – intellectually – than the entire history of the human race. His character is shot in the stomach, giving him just weeks to live, prompting his wife to upload his brainwaves. It’s not long before his presence in cyberspace becomes a threat to mankind. So the question is this: is Depp’s new thriller set to add another dimension to the zombie genre?

What, you've never Heard of Johnny Depp's fiancee Amber?
Amber Heard has stolen Johnny Depp’s heart and she’s got the engagement ring to prove it. The 27 year old Texan actress has just celebrated her upcoming nuptials to Depp with an intimate LA bash on Friday. Now we're all pretty clear on who Hollywood megastar Depp is, but just who is the lady who’s managed to bag one of Hollywoods hottest bachelors?
Amber Heard and her fiancee, Johnny Depp
Amber Heard’s Hollywood dream started when she dropped out of high school at 17 and made the move to L.A. to start her acting career. A risky decision that paid off pretty quick when she was cast alongside Billy Bob Thornton in ‘Friday Night Lights’ just a year later. The acclaimed film was Heard’s first movie role having taken bit parts in TV shows and music videos previously. Her next prominent movie role came when she played the young Charlize Theron in 2005’s ‘North Country’, for which Theron recieved an Oscar nomination. Heard then landed her first big TV role in the CW’s ‘Hidden Palms’ as Greta, a free spirited girl dealing with the loss of her mother and brother. For the role Amber was required to lose 25 pounds, which she did, but her dedication to the role didn't pay off. The show only ended up lasting for 8 episodes before being dropped by the network.

Depp undergoes an eerie cyber transformation in 'Transcendence.'
The full-length trailer has been released for the upcoming Johnny Depp sci-fi thriller, Transcendence. Directed by Wally Pfister ('Inception,' 'The Dark Knight'), the film pushes the boundaries of human innovation to bring us a chilling look at the potentially destructive power of technology. Depp stars as a scientist whose brain is uploaded to a supercomputer upon his death.
In His First Sci-Fi Role, Johnny Depp Plays A Genius Scientist On The Verge Of Breakthrough.
Will Caster (Depp) is a computer scientist at the forefront of artificial intelligence research before he is taken out by an anti-technology activist. Determined not to die, the scientist and his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) rush to find a way to upload his consciousness so that he can communicate even beyond the grave. However, not everybody is certain of what will happen if they succeed, especially as Carter's mind begins to evolve and become more powerful than he could have ever dreamed.
Computer genius Will Caster is involved in a technological program exploring the world-changing possibilities of artificial intelligence. Their goal is to create a machine that will have knowledge beyond the minds of human beings collectively, while also being able to reach Transcendence; a state in which this artificial mind can begin to feel human emotion. After a particularly enlightening seminar in which the goals of the project in terms of medicine are highlighted, he is shot suddenly. At first it appears that he is going to survive as the bullet didn't hit any major organs, but doctors quickly realise that the attack was much more insidious as it has been laced with radioactive matter. With only weeks to live as research labs across the country are being targeted by a radical anti-technology activist group called RIFT, Caster must find a way to live. When his wife Evelyn manages to upload his consciousness, it seems his project has been fulfilled - but it soon becomes clear that the power he is about to wield will put the world at risk.

Our list of the top five biggest box office flops.
You know that old saying ‘Money can’t buy you happiness’? Well it can’t buy a box office hit, either! You can pump millions of dollars into a movie, but it doesn’t guarantee it will be a success, take these box office flops for example.
Remember 'Mars Needs Moms'
2011’s Mars Needs Moms had a production budget of $150,000,000, but only took $38,992,758 at the international box office giving it an estimated loss of $130,503,621. That would buy you around 7,676 Hermes Birkin bags or 652 Lamborghinis. So, essentially, it’s quite a substantial loss and we can't imagine that Walt Disney, who produced the movie, were too pleased.

Can Depp saving his flagging career with this role?
In departure from his usually fantastical roles, Johnny Depp is stepping back into the bad boy gangster mind set by playing Whitey Bulgar in Black Mass. Tom Hardy is also in talks to play corrupt FBI agent and long-time friend of Bulgar, John Connolly.
Johnny Depp is finally confirmed to play the notorious gangster
Depp’s involvement in the project had seemed ropey, with the recently maligned actor seemingly stepping down from the project after being on board. Now, with Scott Cooper – director of Crazy Heart – on board, Depp seems to be back and committed to the role. The idea was floated this time last year, when Barry Levinson was supposed to be directing.

'Transcendence' is the unnerving sci-fi directorial debut of Oscar winning cinematographer Wally Pfister ('The Dark Knight Rises', 'The Italian Job', 'Inception'). Initially written by Jack Paglen (who will be writing 'Prometheus 2'), it has been re-written by Pfister, Jordan Goldberg ('Inception: Motion Comics' TV series) and Alex Paraskevas ('Walker Payne') and is set to be released in the UK on April 25th 2014.
The sci-fi film is expected in spring 2014.
Is Johnny Depp back on top form with Trancscendence? So far all we have to go on is the trailer, but at least he’s back in the type of strange and unexpected role he’d built a career on before his recent bout of below-average flicks.
There may be hope for Depp's career yet.
The trailers (Warner Bros. released a set of two short teasers yesterday) have a slight 90s feel to them, in that “artificial intelligence is out to rule the human race, now here are some lines of binary flowing across the screen,” but who doesn’t love a bit of 90s nostalgia anyway. We also got a better idea of the story with the full trailer, released yesterday.
