Fans of Johnny Cash are being offered to buy into a valuable piece of country history - the home the legendary singer lived in until his death is up for sale.

The 18-room Nashville, Tennessee, house - where Cash and his wife, JUNE Carter Cash, lived from 1968 until their deaths in 2003 - is on the market for $2.9 million (GBP1.5 million).

None of the family wanted to live in the seven-bedroom house, whose guests have included former US President Jimmy Carter, evangelist BILLY GRAHAM and Kris Kristofferson, so they collectively decided that selling it was the only option.

Cash's brother TOMMY says, "Selling it is heartbreaking.

"Some maintenance work will be needed on the place, but it will be sold as is, which will include some beds and other furniture.

"I haven't visited the place since my brother died, but there are a lot of good memories there. We hope the buyer will be someone who will respect the history of the place and love it as much as my brother did."

The family had already sold off most of the late couple's belongings through an auction last year (04) - raising $4 million (GBP2.1 million).
