John Moore has been given the job of directing the new Pierce Brosnan thriller 'IT'.

The director, who has previously worked on Hollywood blockbuster films like 'A Good Day to Die Hard', has become the latest name to be added to the exciting project, which also includes 'Live Free or Die Hard' screenwriter William Wisher Jr, Deadline reports.

The lead role in the film is to be played by Brosnan, who will star as a successful publisher who experiences a falling out with a young IT consultant.

Brosnan's character soon learns that he is using technology to launch attacks against his family and business.

Brosnan was confirmed in the role in 2014 and the film is set to enter production this autumn.

Meanwhile, Brosnan revealed earlier this month that he turned down the role of Batman because he ''couldn't really take it seriously''.

The 61-year-old admitted he was offered the part in Tim Burton's 1989 movie, but chose to pass on the opportunity.

Brosnan said: ''I went and met with Tim Burton for the role of Batman. But I just couldn't really take it seriously, any man who wears his underpants outside his pants just cannot be taken seriously.''
