The former presidential candidate will join Senators Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe as guest stars on the NBC sitcom - which stars Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones and Chris Pratt - when the cast head to Washington for an episode in the fifth series.
Arizona Senator John has taken to twitter to post a picture of himself with Amy and tipped the show to win an Emmy Award after shooting his performance.
He wrote: ''Had a great time shooting @ParksandRecNBC today w/ Amy Poehler - I think it's an Emmy! (sic)''
John's episode - which is titled 'Ms. Knope Goes to Washington' - is expected to air on September 27 and it will see Amy's alter-ego Leslie Knope taking a trip to the city to see her onscreen boyfriend Ben Wyatt, who is portrayed by Adam Scott.
'Parks and Recreation' returns to screens on Thursday September 20 on NBC.
