John Mayer's roster of ex-girlfriends is quite a list, and having admitted "I was a jerk" to most of them, it's a wonder he's managed to get so many A-List ladies onto his arm.
He's been linked to Friends star Jennifer Aniston, and singers Jessica Simpson and Taylor Swift. Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning (an interview that will air on February 10th) he spoke with regret about how he treated them. He famously referred to Simpson as "sexual napalm" and was far too open about his and Aniston's break-up in an issue of Playboy, as DigitalSpy recall.
"It's very liberating when you finally realise it's impossible to make everyone like you," he says. "I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction."
Swift already got her own vindication in a very public, very direct song aimed at him, named 'Dear John'. Who needs subtlety?
Mayer's had a bit of time off over the past year since an operation on his greatest asset: his vocal cords. But that was no challenge in comparison to dealing with the negative impact of the aftermath of the interviews he gave about his past relationships. Having turned over a new leaf, and insisting he's not the same guy anymore, it appears it's not only his vocal cords that have been given a new lease of life.
