John Mayer may be no stranger to dating beautiful women - having wooed the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson - but the Blues musician has a peculiar way of impressing the opposite sex.

Mayer says instead of serenading women with his soothing vocals or smooth guitar playing, he simply sings lines for the erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. Speaking on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' on Tuesday (May 24, 2012), Mayer said he recently tried to woo a girl by performing a page from the book, written by British author E.L James. The 34-year-old said, "I was trying to impress her, and she had [the book] on her Kindle. And so I said, 'I'm going to sing it to you.' So I sang her one of the pages of 'Fifty Shades of Grey". So how did the lady react? "She fell," Mayer revealed, adding. "She fell to the ground laughing and I think that was the only way I could make her laugh.I sold out, completely".

The rights to the book - which has already shifted millions worldwide - were snapped up by Universal Pictures last month after a heated bidding war. The likes of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Ian Somerhalder and Carey Mulligan have all been linked with the leading roles.
