John Lennon now has his own official Day in Los Angeles - 1 October.
Friday (01Oct10) was declared John Lennon Day by city officials saluting the multiple celebrations of Lennon's upcoming 70th birthday.
The former Beatles star's biopic Nowhere Boy was premiered in Los Angeles on Friday, the legend's former The Quarrymen bandmates were in town for promotional activities and a major exhibition of rare Lennon photography launched at Mr. Music Head Gallery.
The celebrations were topped off with Yoko Ono's first live performance with We Are Plastic Ono Band in the city on Friday night.
The official city proclamation was announced in the presence of The Quarrymen stars Rod Davis, Len Garry and Colin Hanton by Los Angeles Council member Tom LaBonge.
