Legendary former BEATLE John Lennon is to be honoured in the wake of the 25th anniversary of his death with a talking doll.

The IMAGINE hitmaker, who was shot dead outside his New York City apartment on 8 December 1980, will be replicated in a 46-centimetre (18-inch) action figure after his widow YOKO ONO sold the rights to his image to a toy manufacturer.

A spokesperson for the company said the figure would utter "authentic John Lennon phrases."

The bizarre plaything is set to hit shops next year (06).
