R&B star John Legend is at the centre of a song-stealing lawsuit.
An unknown hopeful, called Anthony Stokes, claims Legend ripped off a song he handed over in a demo.
In a lawsuit, filed earlier this week (beg04Jul11) in New Jersey and obtained by Tmz.com, the songwriter reveals he gave the tape to Legend in 2004 after a concert.
Legend reportedly promised to listen to the song but he never got back to Stokes, who forgot all about his Legend-ary meeting until he heard a track called Maxine's Interlude in 2006.
The songwriter insists the track is a little too similar to his song Where Are You Now?, which was on the demo.
Stokes is demanding unspecified damages.
