British actor John Hurt will join THE Pretenders rocker Chrissie Hynde and director Michael Caton-Jones to head up the Michael Powell Award jury at the Edinburgh Film Festival next week (beg14AUG06). The panel will judge the Best New British Film at the festival. Among the films fighting for the prize are ANDREW PIDDINGTON's THE KILLING OF JOHN LENNON and LONDON TO BRIGHTON by director PAUL ANDREW WILLIAMS. Last year's (05) Michael Powell Award winner was Gavin Hood's TSOTSI, which went on to win a Best Foreign Film Oscar.
