Rocker John Frusciante Forced To Increase Spousal Support

John Frusciante Red Hot Chili Peppers

The former Red Hot Chili Peppers star split from Nicole Turley in May (15) and handed over an initial payment of $20,000 (£12,500) to help her out as they worked out their divorce.

However, musician Turley insisted she needed $75,000 (£46,875) a month to maintain the lifestyle she had become accustomed to, a request Frusciante has branded "crazy".

In legal papers filed last week (ends16Oct15), the guitarist insisted he shouldn't have to keep funding her music efforts, alleging she uses $21,000 (£13,125) just to rent a recording studio.

John Frusciante Red Hot Chili Peppers

Editors of TMZ.com report that John, who is in the middle of a divorce from his estranged wife Nicole, is done footing the bill as she pursues her dream of becoming a musician.

The guitarist says his wife's request for $75,000 (£47,000) a month in spousal support is "crazy" and claims $21,000 (£13,000) is just to rent a music studio.

In new legal documents filed in their divorce case, he states, "I don't know if you can call her recording efforts a hobby or a past-time... but it seems improper to characterise Nicole as a professional musician."

John Frusciante Red Hot Chili Peppers Duran Duran

Frusciante insists his Trickfinger album release in April (15) was a mistake and he intends to spend the rest of his career experimenting with music, instead of reaching for chart positions.

He tells Electronic Beats, "For the last year and a half I made the decision to stop making music for anybody and with no intention of releasing it, which is what I was doing between 2008 and 2012.

"I felt that if I took the public into consideration at all, I wasn't going to grow and I wasn't going to learn. Being an electronic musician meant I had to woodshed for a while, so I have a good few years' worth of material from that period that's never been released.
