Rielle Hunter - the mistress of disgraced Presidential hopeful John Edwards - has reportedly cooled her relationship with the former North Carolina senator as the trial into their affair begins. Edwards is accused of using nearly $1 million in campaign cash to cover up the romance.
According to the New York Post, their relationship has "fizzled out just as fast as his presidential prospects". A waitress at Rooster's Wood Fire Kitchen in Charlotte - where the couple used to dine once every three weeks - said they "didn't seem romantic" during their most recent visit. The couple - whose affair led to the birth of their child Frances Quinn - showed no affection towards each other and weren't holding hands. Edwards reportedly pays child support and visits his daughter every so often, with one of Rielle Hunter's neighbors saying he's only seen the former Presidential nominee playing with Frances "a few times in the past six months". Edwards carried on the affair while his wife Elizabeth Edwards was suffering from cancer.

One-time U.S. presidential candidate John Edwards is suffering from a life-threatening heart condition.
The disgraced politician, who is facing a criminal corruption trial, was forced to delay proceedings last month (Dec11) due to a medical condition and now a federal judge has revealed that Edwards is seriously ill.
U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles has confirmed she has received letters from cardiologists to verify the politician's condition.
The trial has been delayed until the end of March (12) to allow Edwards, 58, to undergo an unspecified procedure next month (Feb12).

John Edwards, the former American Presidential candidate and husband of the recently deceased Elizabeth Edwards, proposed to his girlfriend RIELLE HUNTER just three weeks after the death of his wife, reports the New York Post. Elizabeth passed away as a result of a long battle with cancer on December 7th 2010 and Edwards reportedly popped the question during a romantic holiday getaway.
The former Democratic Presidential candidate then arranged for his children Cate, Jack and Emma Claire to meet Hunter for the first time at the 'MACaroni Grill' restaurant in Charlotte. John and Elizabeth had been married for 32 years but split back in January 2010 after it emerged that the politician had engaged in an affair with Rielle, a Democrat campaign worker. The affair led to the birth of a baby girl named 'Frances Quinn Hunter'. Earlier this week, it was reported that Elizabeth, an attorney and health care activist, cut John out of her will completely before her death, leaving all possessions and property to her three children.
Elizabeth Edwards, the American author and attorney who died of cancer in December 2010, left her estranged husband John Edwards out of her will, according to the Guardian newspaper. Edwards left all of her possessions to her three surviving children and chose not to include the former US presidential candidate.
Filed at the Orange County Superior Court six days before she died, Edward's will reads, "All of my furniture, furnishings, household goods, jewellery, china, silverware and personal effects, and any automobiles owned by me at the time of my death, I give and bequeath to my children" Back in January 2010, Elizabeth announced that she had separated from John after 32 years of marriage following revelations that he had an extramarital affair and fathered a daughter out of wedlock. Elizabeth was diagnosed with breast cancer the day after her husband and John Kerry were defeated by George W Bush in 2004, and soon became an activist on healthcare issues for woman. Edwards' husband admitted to an affair with a campaign worker in 2008, and after initially denying the allegations he later admitted to fathering a child girl named 'Frances Quinn'.
John and Elizabeth are parents to lawyer Cate, as well as 12-year-old Emma Claire and 10-year-old Jack.
Despite his denials, Edwards was outed as the father of former assistant Rielle Hunter's lovechild at the beginning of 2010. He has since admitted fathering an illegitimate child while he ran for office and his wife Elizabeth battled cancer.
Fervent Democrat Alexakis admits he was not surprised when the truth came out: "He couldn't keep his d**k in his pants... People are people, men are men, and men who have power and have the looks that John Edwards has, I'm not surprised. I stumped for him and I saw some things that made me a little uneasy then, I don't want to go int it."
And now the rocker insists he can no longer support the man he once campaigned for: "I think personal lives have a lot to say about anyone's professional life... You're asking people to trust you with monumental decisions and also tax payers' money. In John's case, it wasn't just screwing around, it was lying about it - and, to make matters worse, it was on his dying wife.

The former Senator and vice-presidential candidate recently confessed to fathering a child with his mistress, and allegedly assured the woman, a former assistant, that he was serious about leaving his wife and marrying her - by planning his ideal wedding.
Matthews was reportedly at the top of Edwards' list of performers, but he insists he never spoke to the politician about his wedding day plans.
The rocker tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "He didn't ask me and I would make a fair bet that I would have said no to such an offer, or I would have charged him an incredible amount of money."
