LATEST: John Cusack's new action movie has been pulled due to lack of funds.
The Grosse Pointe Blank star, more used to starring in romantic comedies, was set to play a movie tough guy in Stopping Power - which was to be directed by Jan De Bont.
But the project, originally due for release next year (08), has now been scrapped.
Cusack, 41, would have played a test pilot who embarks on a high-speed car chase to save his kidnapped daughter.
Production company Internationalmedia has declined to say which of the film's financiers has pulled out, indicating that it would pursue legal recourse.
A separate production subsidiary set up for the film, IM Stopping Power, has filed for insolvency as a result, reports Variety magazine.
