Blues star CURTIS SALGADO has cancelled his US tour after being diagnosed with liver cancer. The HIT IT AND QUIT IT singer, 52, was given the bad news three weeks ago and has suspended concerts until further notice. His manager SHANE TAPPENDORF says Salgado expects to begin radiation treatment next month (MAY06) and is hopeful he will undergo a liver transplant operation. Tappendorf says, "We're just staying optimistic. As we take each treatment, we'll know more." Salgado adds, "I am fortunate to be under the care of an incredible team of doctors and nurses, and I'm inspired by the courageous people who have faced this fight before me." Salgado is widely believed to be the inspiration for John Belushi's BLUE BROTHERS act because of his fondness for Ray-Ban sunglasses, as well as his music style.
