Punk legend Joey Ramone is to be given an impressive posthumous honour in the form of his own New York spot.

The corner of the city's East Second Street and The Bowery is to be renamed Joey Ramone Place as a tribute to the pioneering star, who died of cancer in April 2001 aged just 49.

The CBGB club, where his band THE Ramones first shot to underground fame, is just around the corner.
