Jodeci Star Donald 'Devante Swing' Degrate Is Facing Legal Action From Record Label Bosses Over Allegations Of Breach Of Contract.
Suburban Noize Records officials claim the singer signed an exclusive recording contract in 2010 to release a new album, and as part of the deal, he was banned from featuring on any other musical project.
He reportedly received an advance of $80,000 (£50,000), but DeGrate failed to deliver on the album and then went on to work on the R&B group's reunion project, The Past, The Present, The Future, which hit retailers earlier this year (15).
Record executives confronted DeGrate about the issue and they reached a settlement, with the star allegedly agreeing to pay back the advance in instalments, which were due to begin on 1 October (15). However, Suburban Noize officials reveal DeGrate has yet to make good on his word and they filed legal papers in the Superior Court of California/County of Los Angeles on Friday (30Oct15), according to Billboard.com.

R&B stars Jodeci have blamed bosses at London's Wembley Arena for their disastrous gig on Sunday night (24Mar13), insisting they considered cancelling the show over a lack of equipment and rehearsal time.
The group was among a number of reunited 1990s R&B bands taking part in The Show event at Wembley Arena, and they closed the gig following performances from Damage, Changing Faces, SWV, Blackstreet and Dru Hill.
However, Jodeci faced a hostile crowd after reportedly taking to the stage late and without singer DeVante Swing, and they failed to win over irate audience members with their shaky vocals.

The R&B singer, real name Joel Hailey, has struggled with booze for years and admits he's lucky to be alive - because his heavy drinking has caused some serious health issues.
In a recent interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine, he explained, "The only thing that's going on with me now - and I thank God I'm still here able to talk to you again - is my pancreas. I drank so much until a small part of my pancreas had ate away (sic). That's no pain you want to feel. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy."

R&B star Mary J. Blige is still sore about the break-up of her engagement to Jodeci star K-Ci Hailey 15 years ago - because she found out on a British TV show that he had no intention of marrying her.
The I'm Going Down singer was left devastated and red-faced when she appeared on late night show The Word and showed off her engagement ring - only to be told her fiance had been on the same show two weeks earlier and had denied the engagement story.
Recalling the awful TV moment in a new VH1 Behind The Music special, which aired in the U.S. on Sunday (24Jul11), Blige stated, "I was on some TV show saying that I was engaged and showing off my ring (and) the host pulls up the tape and says, 'This is what he said'."
Asked for a comment after the footage was shown to her, Blige simply asked the host to "move on", insisting, "We're not getting married now."

R+B superstar Mary J Blige is reliving an embarrassing TV incident concerning her ex-boyfriend CEDRIC 'K-CI' HAILEY in the forthcoming promo for her new single ENOUGH CRYIN'. The NO MORE DRAMA hitmaker, 36, and former Jodeci bandmember Hailey, also 36, dated for six years before splitting in 1997. Blige has since found love again with her husband/manager Kendu Isaacs. Blige appeared on British chat show THE WORD in the mid-1990s - several years before the couple ended their rocky relationship - declaring she was engaged to the K-CI AND JO-JO star, which Hailey had denied on the same programme only a week earlier. In the forthcoming video, Blige replays the heartbreak while rapper 50 Cent poses as her R+B singer boyfriend. Blige explains to MTV.com, "The video is something that happened a long time ago, and it was a very embarrassing moment when I thought I was getting married. "I was engaged, and I actually went on a talk show overseas and that person had just done that talk show about a week before me. I was telling the interviewer that I was getting married, and the week before he was saying that it was a rumour. He wasn't marrying me. It was a disaster that really embarrassed me." 50 Cent adds, "I'm actually playing CJ - you know, short for CURTIS JACKSON (50's real name). He's an R+B singer, and he's aggressive. When he's questioned by the guy interviewing them, he kind of loses his cool."
