Joan Jett inspired students in Washington on Monday (23May11) by visiting a local high school to encourage them to work hard for good grades.
The rocker visited Scriber Lake High School in Edmonds, where she spoke to students at risk of dropping out about the importance of education at a special assembly.
Jett, who quit high school in the 1970s to tour with her band The Runaways, returned to her studies years later to obtain a diploma.
She said, "I'm really proud I did it. It's important for life because you never know what'll happen."
The singer also urged the teens to follow their passions, adding, "Find that thing that gets you going and makes you smile."
