Country singer Jo Dee Messina is facing another family crisis after her mother was hospitalised with pneumonia, just three months after undergoing life-saving open heart surgery.
The 42-year-old star kept a bedside vigil for her mum Mary following the procedure in April (13), even rescheduling a number of shows in Canada the following month (May13) to stay close to her sick mother in America.
Messina has now revealed her mother is facing a further health battle after contracting pneumonia.

Country star Jo Dee Messina has become the latest celebrity to turn to 'crowdfunding' to raise cash for a new project.
Following the recent success of actor/director Zach Braff's campaign to fund his new movie with fan donations on Kickstarter.com, Messina has turned to the website in a bid to raise the $100,000 (Gbp65,000) she needs to make start on her new album, titled My Time Our Music.
A spokesman for the singer/songwriter says, "For the first time in her successful 18-year music career, Jo Dee is free to make the album she wants. While grateful for the support of her previous record label, she is looking ahead to this new chapter in her career and will release a new full-length album with the people's help through Kickstarter.com.

Country star Jo Dee Messina took a break from caring for her sick mother to give a talk to university students in Tennessee on Monday (29Apr13).
The singer has been suffering sleepless nights over the last week after her mum underwent heart surgery, but she put her personal problems aside to fulfil a commitment at Middle Tennessee State University (Mtsu) in Murfreesboro.
Messina addressed pupils studying for a Music Business Degree as part of their Artist Management class, and she won rave reviews for giving a candid talk about her experiences in the industry.

Country singer Jo Dee Messina was thrown into a state of panic when she heard about the horrific shootout in the Boston area on Friday (19Apr13) as her family lives in the Massachusetts town where the gun battle took place.
Officials in the city of Boston and the surrounding areas have ordered a complete lockdown, telling residents to stay indoors, as cops pursue a suspect linked to the devastating bombing at the city's marathon on Monday (15Apr13).
The manhunt was launched on Thursday night (18Apr13) and continued into the early hours of Friday morning (19Apr) when one of two suspects - named as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26 - was killed in a shootout, and his 19-year-old brother Dzhokhar went on the run.

The Bring on the Rain hitmaker and her husband Chris Deffenbaugh welcomed their second son to the family in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (11Jan12).
The couple has called the tot Jonah Christopher.
Messina and Deffenbaugh also have a three-year-old son, named Noah.

Pregnant country star Jo Dee Messina doesn't have to worry about decorating her Nashville, Tennessee home this Christmas - she enlisted the help of a reality TV crew to deck the halls and trim the tree.
The singer/songwriter, who is due to give birth to her second child early in 2012, opened her doors to a film crew from U.S. TV show Celebrity Holiday Homes and the experts who work for the show spent a day getting the place ready for the holidays.
Messina's home makeover will debut on 18 December (11). Also featured on the episode are actors and TV personalities Wayne Brady and Alison Sweeney.
A spokesman for the singer says, "Designer Matthew Haly transformed Messina's home with embellished natural materials, such as wood, tree branches and berries."

Country star Jo Dee Messina has announced she's expecting her second child with husband Chris Deffenbaugh.
The Bring On the Rain hitmaker took to her Twitter.com page on Thursday (20Oct11) to tell fans she's pregnant with another baby, a little sibling to the singer's son, Noah, two.
She tweeted, "Our family is very excited. In a few months, Chris, Noah and I will be welcoming Baby #2!!!"
Messina married Deffenbaugh in October 2007.
