We’ve definitely been here before, but for some reason twitter trolls just can’t leave ‘Harry Potter’ author and all round amazing woman Jk Rowling alone. You’d think these idiots would have learnt their lesson by now. But sadly they haven't, so step forward JK’s latest twitter time wasters, the always friendly Westboro Baptist Church.

JK RowlingJK Rowling is the Queen of twitter FACT.

In case you haven’t been paying much attention to world events over the last few days let us remind you that on Saturday, Ireland became the first country to legalise same-sex marriage by popular vote. This was, of course, cause for celebration, not just in Ireland but around the world and Rowling was quick to share her joy over the news.

‘Sitting here watching the Irish make history. Extraordinary and wonderful,’ the author tweeted. ‘May the next generation never go through what some of my friends went through. A victory for love and for human rights!’ Rowling then tweeted a meme which read, ‘What if Dumbledore and Gandalf were gay together’, telling a fan, ‘then they could get married in Ireland'.

But not everybody enjoyed Rowling’s joke and soon she was being pounced on by users with an affiliation to the Westboro Baptist Church, who you might know from their ‘God hates fags’ campaign and their love for picketing. A tweet from the church’s twitter read, ‘@jk_rowling wants Dumbledore & Gandalf to marry in Ireland; if it happens WBC will picket! #NotBanned’.

But Rowling wasn't going to let the WBC get away with their trolling for very long and she soon fired back writing, ‘@WBCsigns Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls..’

When later asked if she’d merely given the WBC ‘counter-productive’ attention, the author responded saying we should confront all hate speech. ‘I don't care about WBC. I think it's important that scared gay kids who aren't out yet see hate speech challenged,’ Rowling told the user.

This isn't even the only time this month Rowling has demonstrated her dominance against the twitter trolls. Earlier this month she told one user to invest in a ‘penis enlarger’ after he attacked her for supporting Labour following the general election.
