Jk Rowling may be the world's most famous contemporary author of childrens novels, but she hails her appearance on The Simpsons as one of the highlights of her lucrative career.

The 38-year-old writer - who has now sold a staggering 250 million copies of her massively popular Harry Potter novels - is an avid follower of the cartoon, because, like her books, it appeals to both adults and children alike.

She says, "I've been a fan since the beginning. If only I'd known that one day they'd be spoofing me.

"I love the show because of the detail. There are so many layer that it works for kids and adults."
