Jim Parsons, the multiple Emmy Award winning star of 'The Big Bang Theory', has officially come out as gay. Speculation concerning Parsons sexual orientation has built in recent years, though a New York Times profile of the actor published on Wednesday (May 23, 2012), makes things official.
Parsons included a thank you to his rumored partner Todd Spiewak in a list of names while accepting an Emmy Award in 2010, and a National Enquirer story claimed the couple were engaged soon after the win. However, the actor never acknowledged that he was gay, and left rumors to reach boiling point. In Wednesday's New York Times profile - written to promote Parsons run in Broadway show 'Harvey' - it states, "The Normal Heart resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment.he heard that the Roundabout Theater Company was considering a revival of "Harvey" - initially with John C. Reilly under consideration for Elwood - and last November the play's director, Scott Ellis, asked him and Ms. Hecht to do a private reading of the work in Los Angeles".
Parsons plays the theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper on 'The Big Bang Theory', who shares an apartment with his colleague and best friend Leonard, played by JOHNNY GALECKI.
