Rocker Jim Morrison has been posthumously pardoned on 41-year-old indecency charges following a unanimous vote by Florida lawmakers on Thursday (09Dec10).
The late The Doors icon was arrested in Miami for indecent exposure at a 1969 concert, but Governor Charlie Crist recently launched a campaign to have the count wiped from state records, arguing it was time to forgive and forget.
Last week (ends05Dec10), Morrison's former bandmate John Densmore insisted the frontman only teased fans during the gig and did not actually expose himself onstage.
And the campaign has worked - the pardon was granted during a Clemency Board meeting on Thursday.
The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger tells the Associated Press, "Nobody would like to have that charge hanging over their head, even if they are dead. I'm sure his family would be happy to see that go, especially since it never happened."
Morrison died in Paris, France in 1971, aged 27.
