Rapper Jim Jones will join hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons to pound the streets of New York later this month (Aug10) as part of an anti-violence rally.
Big Apple natives Jones and Simmons will be joined by Fat Joe, Maino, and Juelz Santana on the Tsunami of Peace: Ride, Walk & Rally Against Violence protest against the rise of gun crime in some of the city's toughest areas.
The rally will take on the appearance of a funeral procession in a bid to drive home the message that guns kill.
Simmons tells AllHipHop.com, "We cannot accept the constant violence and death in our communities as the norm. Time to stand up."
Community activist and rally organiser Erica Ford adds, "The culture of violence is too normal in our communities. The organisers of the Tsunami of Peace rally are here to promote a culture of peace, instead. No one has all the answers, but together we can solve this problem."
