Jim Carrey, the American actor currently starring in 'Mr Popper's Penguins', dropped into the 'Today Show' studio on Thursday (16th June 2011) where he fooled around with host Matt Lauer. Jim Carrey also surprised Natalie Morales, presenting her with a flower as she was reading the news.
After making his entrance to 'I Got A Feeling' by the Black Eyed Peas, Carrey told a series of anecdotes and stories, one of which concerned fathers who fool around with their kids. In a segment before the ad break, the actor appeared from off-camera on his hands and knees, inviting Lauer to ride on his back. Carrey has been doing the rounds of U.S. television to promote 'Mr Popper's Penguins', a new movie about a businessman whose life changes after he inherits six penguins. During a recent appearance on the David Letterman show, Carrey told a story about his dogs getting "skunked". The talk show host claimed Tom Hanks had offered a similar story during his appearance two years earlier, prompting Carrey to say, "Are you saying I stole from Tom Hanks?" Carrey was left looking sheepish after Letterman ran the clip of Hanks telling the exact same story, saying, "That is a weird coincidence, for that same thing to happen to two A-list celebrities freaky! Is this the Late Show or the Twilight show?"
Jim Carrey is reportedly in negotiations to star as the cartoonist and amateur anthropologist Robert Ripley in 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not'. The project is being penned by 'Forest Gump' writer ERIC ROTH.
