Jim Carrey comedy Yes Man has continued to attract UK cinemagoers, holding the top spot at the box office for a second week.

The Warner Bros film, based on Danny Wallace's bestseller, sees the Liar, Liar star as Carl Gordon, whose life is transformed when is instructed to say "yes" to every opportunity life throws at him.

Also starring Zooey Deschanel and Rhys Darby, Yes Man took £2.23 million in its second week on release to remain atop the UK charts.

Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories remains in second while Baz Luhrmann's epic drama Australia slipped one place to fourth in its second week at UK cinemas.

The highest new entry was comic book adaptation The Spirit, starring Gabriel Macht, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson.

The Frank Miller film took £1.35 million to debut at number six, with vampire romance Twilight again performing well to remain in sixth.

World war two drama The Reader and the first instalment of historical biopic Che were the other new entries in the top ten.
