Jesy Nelson was stunned when Jake Roche proposed to her and compared the experience to winning 'The X Factor'.
Jesy Nelson says Jake Roche's proposal was like ''winning 'The X Factor'''.
The Little Mix star was stunned when the Rixton singer popped the question after her soundcheck at Manchester Arena yesterday (19.07.15) while pal Ed Sheeran sang for the couple, and she compared the moment to when she and her bandmates were crowned 2011 champions of the singing contest because it felt so surreal.
She said: ''I said to the girls, it was weird but it felt like when we won 'The X Factor', I felt like I wasn't there, it was really strange.''
Though the 24-year-old singer insists the proposal was a total surprise, she realised what was about to happen as soon as Ed started singing.
Speaking at KEY 103's Summer Live, she said: ''It was all a bit of a blur, we were walking off cos I thought we'd finished soundchecking and then lo and behold, Ed walked out.
The girls were like, 'Jess, Jess' and I turned round and he sang mine and Jake's song - 'Tenerife Sea' - and as soon as he sung that I just knew, I balled.
''It was all a bit of a blur, I couldn't take it all in.''
Jesy and Jake, 22, have discussed marriage in the past, but the 'Black Magic' singer still wasn't expecting to get engaged.
She said: ''We've spoken about ti but I never thought it was going to happen.''
And the moment was as much a surprise to the rest of Little Mix as it was to Jesy herself.
Jade Thirlwall said: ''We had an inkling, but it was just as much of a surprise for us, it was like a movie.''
'Me and My Broken Heart' singer Jake announced news of the couple's engagement on Instagram.
Posting a picture of himself down on one knee holding a ring to Jesy, Jake wrote: ''A year ago today I met her at manchester arena, so it was only right, with a little help from my friend, that this happened. Best day of my life.''
