Jessica Simpson and her fiance Eric Johnson have had their second child, with their first son Ace Knute Johnson being born early on Sunday (June 30) at a Los Angeles hospital. As great as the news is, the choice of name for the little one has caused it's fair share of head-scratching as people struggle to get their heads around the latest bizarre celebrity baby name.

Congratulations to Jessica and Eric!

It turns out that the choice of name isn't just some random decision, but is actually in honour of the college football legend Knute Rockne, who played and coached at Notre Dame University at the beginning of the twentieth century. Not so strange after all (well, it isn't exactly Steve but it is better than North or Apple) and maybe Eric already has plans for his son to follow in his footsteps by choosing the name.

Simpson gave birth to their first son on Sunday 30 June 2013 via C-section in L.A. In a statement made to US Weekly later that day, a spokesperson for Simpson announced the birth, saying "Ace Knute Johnson has arrived!"

This is their second child together, with daughter Maxwell Drew being born in May 2012. The two have been dating since 2010 and got engaged after a few months of dating in November 2010, however Simpson's child-bearing and the pair's busy work schedules has made it difficult for the two to have a wedding at last. Maybe now that baby Ace Knute is here the two can get to planning for the big day.
