Jessica Chastain admits she found it hard getting auditions early in her career and considered dying her red hair blonde to boost her chances.
Jessica Chastain considered dying her hair blonde because she couldn't get any auditions early on in her career.
The redhead actress thinks people in the entertainment industry were ''confused'' by her flame-coloured tresses and unconventional looks, and she was ''irritated'' that ''no one cared'' she had been to New York's esteemed music school Juilliard.
She said: ''It irritated me that no one knew, or didn't care, what Juilliard was. There were a couple of times when I thought, 'Maybe I should dye my hair blonde?'
''I'm in LA and I'm thinking, 'Why can't I get an audition for a film?' Being a redhead and not having very conventionally modern looks, it was confusing for people and they didn't know exactly where to put me.
''Most of the time, it was, 'Why is this taking so long?' ''
The 35-year-old star revealed one of her frustrating moments came when she was rejected after doing a pre-read for US TV series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.
She added to Britain's InStyle magazine: ''That's not even the audition. It's the audition before the audition. I mean, what's going on!''
