Comedian Jerry Lewis has been released from hospital after collapsing at a Friars Club gala in New York on Tuesday night (12Jun12).
The TV and movie veteran was scheduled to present Tom Cruise with the organisation's Entertainment Icon Award but he was taken ill minutes before the ceremony.
Reports suggested low blood sugar caused the 86-year-old to pass out backstage, and now his representative Candi Cazau has confirmed that Lewis had simply forgotten to eat or drink in the hours leading up to the gala.
Lewis is currently resting in his hotel room.
