The last day of the Olympics cost Jeremy Renner's new action movie a couple million dollars at the U.S. box office.
Estimates released on Sunday (12Aug12) by studio bosses at Universal suggested his debut in the Bourne spy franchise would pull in $40.3 million (£25.1 million) in its first weekend on release, but it seems film fans stayed away from the cinema.
In a rare recount, The Bourne Legacy has now opened with $38.1 million (£23.8 million).
That's still enough to put the film in first place, ending The Dark Knight Rises' three-week reign at number one in America.
Political comedy The Campaign opened in second place with $26.6 million (£16.6 million).
