British actor Jeremy Irons has turned his back on the country's ruling LABOUR PARTY, after helping them get into power in 1997.
The OSCAR winner campaigned for Tony Blair as part of the 'cool Britannia' movement that swept Labour into power and ended 18 years of CONSERVATIVE PARTY rule.
But Irons is dissatisfied with Labour's achievements and will lend his support to the Conservatives when Britain goes to the polls at tomorrow's (05MAY05) General Election.
He says, "Even though I don't think the Tories (Conservatives) are really ready to govern yet I'm going to vote for them on Thursday.
"I was a huge supporter of Labour but they haven't fulfilled any of their promises and they have taken away many of the liberties the British people used to enjoy."04/05/2005 14:02
