The former Playboy model and Playmate of the Year, Jenny McCarthy, will soon be launching her own show on VH1, reports New York Daily News today (February 15, 2012). 'The Jenny MCCarthy Show' will apparently feature the 39 year-old model-turned-actress focusing on pop culture and Vh1 have released a statement saying that she will "celebrate as well as skewer everyone and everything in pop culture, news, fashion, TV, movies and the Web."
Jeff Olde, the president of programming and production at Vh1 stated that they had chosen MCCarthy to front the show because "Our viewers connect with smart, funny, and outspoken women and Jenny certainly represents all of those elements wrapped up in a style that makes people smile." It is expected that the format of the show will reference that of Chelsea Lately, the E! series featuring Chelsea Handler. MCCarthy is also expected to be one of the show's executive producers.
Jenny Mccarthy was chosen as Playmate of the Year in 1994 but moved on from her modeling to career to present TV shows such as MTV's Singled Out dating show. In 1998, she landed her debut film role, in BasEketball, with Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Her acting career never really took off, however, and she was given a Razzie Awards for Worst Actress for her appearance in Dirty Love. Her cousin, Melissa McCarthy, on the other hand, is nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Bridesmaids.
