Jenny McCarthy Couldn’t Be Her "Full Self" On 'The View'

Jenny McCarthy Donnie Wahlberg Barbara Walters

Jenny McCarthy has opened up on her departure from The View, explaining that she began to feel like she didn't fit in with the ABC talkshow's way of working. Speaking to Howard Stern this week, the former TV presenter discussed her life and career, addressing speculation over a rumoured acrimonious split from the show.

When asked by the radio star whether she had been fired, McCarthy replied "Yes and no," adding "I would call it: If I wanted to stay with Rosie and if I was a Republican I would still be there right now."

She revealed that her decision to leave was made during a "four-hour legal meeting" and after realising that she would have to "censor" herself too much on the show.

Rosie ODonnell Whoopi Goldberg Jenny McCarthy Sherri Shepherd Barbara Walters

O’Donnell is Finally some good news from The View! Meet your new/returning panelist, Rosie O’Donnell. Well, to be fair, you’re probably familiar with the comedienne and author’s no-nonsense style and biting humor. O’Donnell co-hosted the View from 2006 to 2007 and her liberal views often clashed with her more conservative co-host, making for some of the liveliest discussion the show has seen in its history.

Rosie O'Donnell
O'Donnell will make her long-term comeback to The View this coming fall season.

“The worst kept secret ever is Rosie is returning to the show — it’s definitely happening!” a source tells HollywoodLife.com. “ABC wants to make the big announcement of her return during the TCAs along with the other new members of the cast.”

Jenny McCarthy Defends Comments Against Huge Backlash: "I'm Not 'Anti-Vaccine'"

Jenny McCarthy

Jenny McCarthy has finally responded to the huge backlash she received when revealing her controversial anti-vaccination stance.

The television personality was thought to be against vaccinated children ever since her son was diagnosed with the condition in 2005 at age 2.

McCarthy allegedly believed getting the vaccination could have led her child to suffer from the condition.

Jenny McCarthy's Halloween Costume: Miley Cyrus' Tongue!

Miley Cyrus has inspired more than one celebrity costume this Halloween. The Cyrus - and Playboy- theme was continued by former Playmate Jenny McCarthy. The 40-year-old dressed as Cyrus' tongue!

For anyone who has missed Cyrus' favourite pose, it includes the 20-year-old sticking her tongue out as far as possible. McCarthy's costume consists of a large mouth surrounding, complete with a set of teeth and a large pink tongue which surrounds her head and ends around the middle of her thigh. The costume is brilliant but probably not the most practical.

Jenny McCarthey is the first person to step into one of the places made vacant by Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar on The View. Show mainstay and creator Barbara Walters said upon the announcement of her appointment, "Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view."

McCarthey will join the panel full-time soon

Following Hasselbeck and Behar's leave from the show this season, McCarthey will begin her co-hosting duties with immediate effect - having passed her on-air interview on the show when she was a guest panelist in June. She released a statement earlier today that read; “I’m beyond thrilled to be joining Barbara and the other amazing women at the table. I look forward to making hot topics a little bit hotter and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have paid off.”

The View Freshens It Up By Hiring Jenny McCarthy

Jenny McCarthy Barbara Walters Whoopi Goldberg

For those, who were hoping to kick off a career in daytime television, you better hurry up – one of the free seats on The View has been taken up by Jenny McCarthy, ABC announced earlier today. After both Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasslebeck left at the end of last season, the network has been scrambling to find worthy replacement and it looks like the comedienne fits the bill.

Jenny McCarthy, Simon G Soiree
McCarthy launched her career in 1993 with a spread in Playboy.

McCarthy is no stranger to the daytime talk show world, having appeared on 17 separate episodes of the ABC format. Starting from September 9, she will be a full-fledged co-host alongside Whoopi Goldber, Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters, who was rumoured to be gearing up for retirement in 2014, but denied any plans to withdraw, giving the paparazzi a snub in the process. After the latest lineup change was announced, McCarthy said she was “beyond thrilled” to be joining Walters and “the other amazing women at the table.”

Knives And Forks Out, We've Got Beef! Jenny McCarthy Attacks Critic Over Cousin Melissa McCarthy Slurs

Jenny McCarthy Melissa McCarthy

The trouble with messing with one McCarthy, is that the one might get you back… Jenny McCarthy, Melissa McCarthy’s cousin and the host of The Jenny McCarthy Show, tore into film critic Rex Reed after he had given Melissa and her new film, Identity Thief, a bad review.

Reed’s problem with film actually turned out to be a personal problem with the comic and actor, and he wrote in the New York Observer that she was a "gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success." That didn’t go down too well with cousin Jenny, who told E! Online "I don't have the whole story, but, I do know that, after being in this business 20 years, it's really crummy that you get attacked in your personal life in general.” Beef!

Continuing, the talk show host fumed "That's obnoxious in itself. For anyone to attack like that, it's just wrong and hurtful, and it doesn't do anyone any good—not even Rex Reed, you know?" So what does Mr Reed have to say for himself? Quite a bit actually. "My point was that I object to using health issues like obesity as comic talking points...[McCarthy] is basing her career on being obnoxious and being overweight” he told WOR 710 FM, according to Indiewire. “And I don't think that's funny. I have too many friends that have died of obesity-related illnesses, heart problems and diabetes, and I have actually lost friends to this. I have helped people try to lose weight, and I don't find this to be the subject of a lot of humor. I have a perfect right to say that.” Can you smell that, readers? That’s right, looks like we’ve got some prime medium rare BEEF on our hands…

Taylor Swift Plays New Year's Rockin' Eve

Taylor Swift performs at New Year's Rockin' Even in Times Square, NY. She wasn't just making headlines for her singing though...

They became two of the biggest pop stars in the world during 2012, so it was only fitting that Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen were on hand to bring the curtain down on 2012 at the famous New Year's Rockin' Eve televised event in New York's Times Square. Perhaps the real success of the night however was the ABC's host Ryan Seacrest who - with help from Jenny McCarthy - did the late great Dick Clark proud in hosting proceedings in the first Rockin' Eve to be held since the veteran's death last year.

Witless Protection Review

Terrible
First, he gave us the interesting but incoherent Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector. It was a film so completely devoid of intelligence that the screenplay consistently threatened to choke on its own drool. Not to be outdone, the Blue Collar Tour vet then went military with the mindless Delta Farce. There, he at least had Bill Engvall and D.J. Qualls to share the blame with. Now comes Daniel Lawrence Whitney's latest celebration of skidmarks, atomic flatulence, personal filth, and animal husbandry. And as Witless Protection proves, the timer on this comic's 15 minutes of funnyman fame has hit an hour and a half.

Poor dumb backwoods deputy Larry Stalder (Mr. Cable Guy). He longs to be an FBI agent, much to the chagrin of his country-fried friends and Daisy Mae wannabe gal pal Connie's (Jenny McCarthy). While spending a quiet morning at the local coffee house chewing the fat, he sees a big city vixen (Ivana Milicevic) surrounded by several men in black. Mistakenly believing she's the victim of a kidnapping, Larry springs into action. He hijacks the lady, avoids the mystery men, and believes he has saved the day.

John Tucker Must Die Review

Weak
John Tucker is a really lucky kid. Not only is he the king of his high school - a real "man's man, ladies' man, man about town" for the under-18 set - but he also has the advantage of being the top dog at the movie version of high school, one filled with an endless stream of hot girls, gobs of money, and no adults in sight.

But the goofily-titled, predictable, and mildly charming John Tucker Must Die is all about the golden child getting his comeuppance. John, played by an endearing (if vacuous) Jesse Metcalfe, is the star of the basketball team and a chronic womanizer. He's got a system down that keeps him in as many open arms as possible, wherein he simultaneously dates hotties from rival cliques, ones who would never deign to speak to one another long enough to dish secrets, and then claims to each that he's not allowed to date during the basketball season. But three of them - shallow head cheerleader Heather (Ashanti), ditsy vegan activist Beth (Sophia Bush), and tightly-wound, overachieving Carrie (Arielle Kebbel) - figure it out. And super-sweet, casual observer Kate (Brittany Snow) inspires them to go the way of women scorned and get themselves some revenge.

Dirty Love Review

Bad
You know Jenny McCarthy, the goofball model. You know Jenny McCarthy, the "actress." Now get ready for Jenny McCarthy, the screenwriter. Her disastrous project, Dirty Love, has plenty of Jenny McCarthy the goofball model actress in it too, but when Carmen Electra as a ghetto body waxer is the highlight of your film, you've got trouble. The movie is ostensibly about McCarthy's character, a photographer, trying to get over her most recent broken relationship, which she does in completely typical fashion. That means scads of potty humor, which reaches its nadir when a guy puts a fish up his butt. Wow.

Baseketball Review

Good
Sadly underrated, it seems Parker and Stone will get no points for anything they do outside of South Park. While they didn't write this one, BASEketball is surprisingly hilarious, filled with sheer asinine humor to fill a dozen Naked Guns. The plot, involving the travails of a new sport combining basketball and baseball that goes pro, is absurd, but it's the little moments, like Jenny McCarthy sucking the chrome off a trailer hitch -- literally -- that give BASEketball all the legs it needs.

Scream 3 Review

Very Good
Normally, as a critic, we are exempt from the cost of seeing a movie. Normally, we get in for absolute zero when we attend a press screener of a film. However, since Dimension, for what appear to be highly mysterious (and controversial) reasons, cancelled the screener of Scream 3 I had to pay.

This is one movie that I did not waste my money on.

Diamonds Review

Good
Kirk Douglas is a real trooper. He still looks darn good for eighty, and his resilience after suffering a debilitating stroke in 1996 is quite admirable. Unfortunately, he's the only thing really worth cheering about in Diamonds. In his first big-time Hollywood production, director John Asher has three major stars with Dan Aykroyd, Douglas, and the beautiful Lauren Bacall, but the newcomer fails to add anything truly novel to the hackneyed formula of an implausible treasure hunt that brings together an estranged family.

The story follows the life of Harry Agensky (Kirk Douglas), a former welterweight champion who is devastated by the one-two punch of the loss of his beloved wife and the after-effects of a stroke. Once known as the "Polish Prince," Harry is now faced with spending the rest of his life in a retirement home. But there is hope as, supposedly, fifty years ago he made a deal with a Reno mobster to throw a fight so that he could retrieve hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of diamonds... but he can't remember where they are hidden. Nobody will help Harry, and his visiting son Lance (Aykroyd) doesn't buy his father's fable about the fight and the diamonds, either. Lance is his dad's opposite, a super-sensitive San Jose Mercury News sports writer still trying to win over his old man. Ironically, Lance seems to have the same problems with his own son Michael (Corbin Allred - Anywhere But Here). When the three decide to go for broke and head to Reno, they clash hard and seem to fail every step of the way. However, what they lose in wealth they gain in insight, and finally discover they can't live apart.

Diamonds Review

Bad

"Diamonds" is a movie I feel guilty for panning because at its heart are the best of intentions and a pair of legendary actors.

A cliché-per-mile road movie with all the standard-issue accouterments (classic convertible, bonding between estranged relatives, a gambling stop in Nevada), the picture's main selling point is a snappy performance by Kirk Douglas, playing a grandfather who, like the actor himself, is recovering from a stroke.

The joy Douglas gets out of being back at work comes across in his character, a former welterweight champ determined not to be slowed down by his impediment, which manifests itself mostly in diminished motor skills and slightly slurred speech.

Scream 3 Review

Weak

The minute Kevin Williamson said no to writing "Scream 3," that should have been the end of it. The only thing that made "Scream" special in the first place was the writer's dark, self-aware wit regarding the conventions of the cheesy teen horror genre.

But then, Williamson had already run out of steam when he wrote the series' second installment, which was little more than an unnecessarily convoluted, workaday slasher flick with a couple well-placed sardonic remarks.

Continuing the decline, now comes "Scream 3," which Wes Craven -- the director of the whole series -- swears will be the last one. Good thing, too.

Scary Movie 3 Review

Good

The "Scary Movie" horror spoofs must be some kind of mutant, alien movie franchise. There's just no other explanation for the fact that the sequels actually keep getting better. And unlike the hilarious but indefensibly scattershot second installment, "Scary Movie 3" even has a coherent combo-platter plot.

Serving up campy twists on The Ring's" killer-videotape plot and the alien invasion from Signs" -- with a little mock-"8 Mile" thrown in for flava -- the story catches up with wide-eyed dingbat heroine Anna Faris (who goofed on Neve Campbell's "Scream" character in the first two films) after she has become a blonde TV reporter (a la Naomi Watts in "The Ring") who discovers the creepy VHS cassette that curses anyone who watches it to die horribly in seven days. But when she tries to warn the world of its dangers, her producer puts his foot down: "No more paranoid on-air rants about the supernatural!"

Meanwhile Charlie Sheen -- returning to the kind of parody he showed such a deadpan knack for in 1991's "Hot Shots!" -- plays a farmer and former priest (shades of Mel Gibson in "Signs") whose cornfields have been flattened in a mysterious "crop circle" that from above reads "Attack Here!" with an arrow pointing to his house.
