The 'Dancing With The Stars' professional squashes any speculation on if he is dating the 44 year-old songstress. "we're friends, that's it."
Early last month it was heavily reported that Jennifer Lopez was dating 'Dancing With The Stars' professional Maksim Chmerkovskiy, several days after news surfaced that the 44 year-old songstress had split from her boyfriend of two and a half years, Casper Smart.
The ballroom dancer is used to the company of high-profile female stars as he was previously engaged to fellow reality star Karina Smirnoff, and has been romantically involved with Sports Illustrated model/actress Kate Upton.
Chmerkovskiy is denying ever dating Lopez
However, when news broke that he may be enjoying a fling with Lopez, he quickly denied these reports and reiterated that they are just friends. Despite this, it seems Chmerkovskiy is forced to clear the air on the pair's dating situation once again.
"I now understand why Hollywood is such a difficult place to have a good relationship in: because there's all these interferences. Two people have to be so strong - and notice I didn't say 'in love,'" he told NY Daily News' Confidenti@l.
Adding, "They have to be in love, but trust me, there've been situations when two people have been really in love, and all of this gets in the way and it completely ruins it."
Shortly after Lopez denied dating Lopez, he was spotted attending her show at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, and afterwards the pair hit Shrine Nightclub together. The two stars reportedly remained close throughout the night, dancing and talking with one another.
But when candidly speaking about his relationship with the 'Dance Again' singer, he confirmed "With the Jennifer thing, look, we're friends and...we're friends. This is it. This is where it ends, pretty much."
Lopez only split from Casper Smar a couple of months ago
Lopez has yet to speak on their rumoured love affair, but this may be because she is still dealing with her and Smart parting ways. Their split was amicable, but they decided to call it quits almost two months ago, after simply growing apart.
However, after Lopez recently admitted to discovering her confidence after this recent split, she might want to avoid the dating scene.
"I don't feel like I have anything to prove anymore," Lopez told Billboard's July issue. "Things have changed so much for me." Adding, "I had to really do some soul searching and just realize a lot of things about love, and now I feel like I come from a place where I'm stronger and, I think, better."
