Jennifer Lopez has confirmed that she will be leaving 'American Idol' and returning to the block after tearfully talking to 'Idol' host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. Lopez has much to thank for her stint on the reality TV show, enjoying somewhat of a career resurrection during her two years there. However, with Steven Tyler also jumping ship earlier today, Lopez has now followed suit - something she has been hinting at for some time now.
"Something had to give, something has to give," she began to Seacrest "I was really dreading this phone call with you." Continuing, she said "I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that you do, and you have to pay attention to that, too. I could keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. I feel like we had an amazing run."
She also hinted that she'd up for returning to the show, perhaps in a mentor role, saying "No matter what you guys need over there, I'm always going to be here. I feel there's that tie there. I just can't be there every day like I was for the last two years. It's just one of those special things in your life you don't want to walk away from," she added tearfully. 'Idol' now finds itself in the same situation as its rival 'X Factor' was in, having to find two new judges.
