Jennifer Lopez has spent her first full day judging American Idol hopefuls, reports People Magazine. It was announced last month that 41-year-old Lopez would be joining the show for the tenth season, and she judged her first batch of eager contestants on Tuesday 28th October in New Jersey.
"It was a long day, but it wasn't tiring", said the singer after her first day in the new job, before adding, "I was energized by all of the contestants' spirits when they came in here - so hopeful about what could happen and how it could be. And it's exciting." The show returns to screens in January, but the first round of auditions is now well under way, with Lopez being joined by the Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and 'Idol' veteran Randy Jackson on the panel. 62-year-old Tyler had some straightforward advice for the new set of hopefuls, telling them, "Don't get mad at what we say - get better".
Lopez will be juggling her judging responsibilities with a number of other projects she's currently involved in, most notably, the recording of her new album, 'Love?' In March 2010, it was confirmed that the singer had signed with Def Jam Recordings to make the new record.
