Jennifer Lopez has given her first interview since announcing her separation from husband Marc Anthony after five years of marriage. The pop and R&B star spoke candidly about her failed relationship for Vanity Fair's September issue.
Somewhat surprisingly, Lopez claimed she and Anthony still "work great together", saying, "Together we could make magic - and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children". Describing marriage as her "biggest dream", the singer refused to rule out future relationships, saying, "Sometimes it doesn't work - and that's sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love. It's still my biggest dream. I am positive - determined to move forward with my life." One slice of good news for Lopez concerns her future on reality signing show American Idol - she has reportedly agreed a contract to return to the Fox series worth an estimated $20 million. The singer has been stalling on negotiations for several months, possibly to focus on her own solo career.
When pushed on the specifics of her breakup from Marc Anthony, Lopez explained, "..if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now".
