Host Ryan Seacrest provided the names of the top 10 singers from the voters for American Idol on Thursday.
American Idol fans in attendance for the live episode shouted out their favorite singers to Seacrest as he named the finalists that will move on. The host jokingly stated, "Sounds like we're playing `The Price Is Right' here."
The top ten American Idol contestants chosen by American voters were:
1. Malaya Watson
2. Ben Briley
3. Emily Piriz
4. Alex Preston
5. Jessica Meuse
6. Dexter Roberts
7. Caleb Johnson
8. Majesty Rose
9. MK Noblette
10. Sam Wolfe
Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban each had the opportunity to choose one remaining singer as a wild card pick. Before the judges could make their decision they elected singers, C.J. Harris, Spenser Lloyd, Bria Anai, Jena Irene and Kristen O'Connor to perform again.
C.J. Harris chose to sing Sam Cook's Bring It on Home to Me once again. Jena Irene sat at the piano to sing her original song Unbreakable Me. Bria Anai performed her rendition of James Brown's It's a Man's World. Kristin O'Connor performed Katy Perry's song Unconditionally. Spenser Lloyd also chose to sing an original song titled Unordinary Girls.
The remaining three wild card spots were given to Jena Irene, Kristen O'Connor and C.J. Harris.
According to Randy Jackson, American Idol is off to a great start. The last few seasons of American Idol have been a ratings nightmare as the show continued to lose viewers. Hopefully, this season will prove to be a ratings hit once again for the show.
